KeNHA announces 8-day closure on section of Mombasa Road
By Achieng' Mary, June 16, 2024The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary closure on a section of Mombasa Road (A8), Mombas bound lanes at Lake Oil (Konza) Petrol Station.
In a notice shared, the highway authority noted that the section of the road closed on Saturday, June 15, 2024, will remain closed till Sunday, June 23, 2024, at 6 am.
KeNHA cited highway maintenance as the cause of the closure which will disrupt normal operations on the road.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority wishes to inform the public that there will be a temporary closure of a section of Mombasa Road (A8), Mombasa bound lanes at Lake Oil (Konza) Petrol Station, which is 4km before Malili Town while heading to Mombasa. This closure will commence from Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 12:00 midnight to Sunday, June 23, 2024, at 6:00 am,” the notice reads in parts.
“This is to allow for highway maintenance works at the section. One lane will be closed while the other will remain in operation. During closure of the Nairobi bound lane, motorists heading to Nairobi will use the diversion as the Mombasa bound operates normally.”
The authority subsequently announced that motorists heading to Mombasa will be diverted to the Nairobi-bound lane through the section, whereas the Nairobi-bound traffic would continue to use the diversion.
Additionally, KeNHA has advised motorists using the Mombasa Road (A8) Mombasa bound lanes on the section to approach with caution and adhere to traffic signs and guidance as directed by marshalls on site.
“The authority remains committed to ensuring seamless connectivity to facilitate safe passage for economic prosperity,” the notice added.
