KeNHA announces temporary closure of Kisumu Boys-Mamboleo road
By Cynthia Lodite, August 5, 2025The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary closure of the Kisumu Boys – Mamboleo road to allow scheduled maintenance as well as improvement works along the road.
KeNHA made the official announcement in a public notice on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, through the Authority’s official X account while revealing the expected closure date as well as alternative routes to be used during the temporary closure of the road.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public on a temporary closure and traffic diversion along the Kisumu Boys Mamboleo (A1) Road from Thursday, 7th August, 2025, to Friday, 5th September, 2025,” KeNHA said.
In addition, the authority further assured the road users that during the temporary closure of the road, traffic will be maintained by diverting vehicles to a dual carriageway.
“This is to allow for scheduled construction and improvement works on the road section. During this period, traffic will be maintained by diverting vehicles to one side of the dual carriageway,” KeNHA assured road users.
Similarly, KeNHA has called on motorists to follow a proposed traffic management plan highlighted by the Authority and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals to ensure smooth transits during the period.
“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” KeNHA said.

Alternative road to be used
According to KeNHA, the alternative routes, which have been divided into three sections, include Nyerere Road and the Kisumu Boys roundabout. Section one of the alternative road will be Gumbi Lane, St. Leonidas Nyawit and Patels Roundabout.
“Nyerere Road, Kisumu Boys Roundabout, section one: Gumbi Road, St. Leonidas Nyawit Patels Roundabout,” KeNHA said.
Similarly, the second section will include the modern Kondele Roundabout, Kakamega to Kisumu Roundabout also include the second section is Neo Roundabout.
“Section 2 to Modern Kondele Roundabout -To Kakamega To Kisumu Neo Roundabout,” KeNHA revealed.
Additionally, according to KeNHA, motorists will also be allowed to use Migos Road and Odiek Road during the temporary closure period.
