Kasmuel says Raila will still influence 2027 elections
By David Nthua, October 31, 2025Activist Kasmuel McOure has said the late Raila Odinga will be on the ballot come the 2027 General Election.
Speaking to a local television station on Tuesday, October 31, 2025, Kasmuel stated that Raila will still be a major political force through his ideals, legacy, and the political machinery he built over decades.

According to Kasmuel, even though Raila Odinga is no longer alive, his influence in Kenyan politics remains strong and will continue to shape the 2027 race.
He noted that President William Ruto’s greatest competition would still be Raila Odinga, not necessarily as a person, but through the values and movement he left behind.
“The only real competition President Ruto would have faced was Raila Odinga.
“If the President chooses to honour Raila Odinga’s legacy, he stands a chance of winning over his voter base. If he goes against it, he will face serious challenges,” Kasmuel said.

He further added that Raila’s political network, his long-standing message of justice and inclusivity, and his loyal base of supporters make him an enduring figure in Kenya’s political landscape.

Kasmuel praises Raila
“It’s an open secret that the only competition President Ruto would have had was Raila Odinga.
“It’s still Raila because he will be on the ballot in 2027 in terms of his ideals, the machinery that he set up, and legacy,” he remarked.

Kasmuel emphasised that for President Ruto to maintain political stability and broad support across the country, he must find a way to respect and preserve Raila’s legacy.
“If the current president honours Raila’s legacy, I can assure you he will manage to woo Raila’s voter base,” he said.
Political analysts have also noted that Raila’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the Azimio coalition remain influential forces ahead of the next election.
Kasmuel’s remarks have sparked renewed debate about how Raila’s political ideology and loyal supporters will influence Kenya’s future elections and governance.
