Kaluma: Broad-based govt will get over 80% of votes in 2027
By Paulette Mboga, October 12, 2025Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma has expressed strong confidence that the broad-based government will win by a large margin in the 2027 General Election.
According to Kaluma, the government led by President William Ruto will secure more than 80 per cent of Kenya’s total votes.

Kaluma shared his optimism while commending President Ruto for ordering the issuance of national identity cards to all qualified Kenyans without extra vetting.
He said on X on Sunday, October 12, 2025, the move would ensure equal voter registration opportunities across all communities and regions.
“The broad-based government will get over 80% of Kenya’s votes in 2027 – SORTED! Thank you, President @WilliamsRuto, for directing the issuance of IDs to all qualified Kenyans without discriminatory extra vetting. Let the voter numbers match the actual population by ethnic community and region!” Kaluma stated.
Feelings on Ruto-Raila pact
Kaluma’s statement comes at a time when public debate around the Broad-Based Government continues to divide opinion. The arrangement, which brings together President Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga, has been described by some as a positive step toward political stability, while others see it as a deal meant to benefit a few political figures.

According to the latest TIFA report released on September 24, 2025, a significant number of Kenyans view the pact with scepticism.
The survey, conducted between August and early September, revealed that 37 per cent of respondents believe the broad-based arrangement primarily serves the political interests of the leaders involved.

Another 27 per cent said the deal undermines democracy and lacks sufficient public participation. Despite the mixed public opinion, Kaluma maintains that the government’s inclusive approach and reforms will help it win overwhelming support in the next elections.
He believes that with fair access to identification documents, more Kenyans will be able to register as voters, leading to higher participation and transparency in 2027.
Kaluma has been a vocal supporter of the Broad-Based Government and insists that the unity between Ruto and Raila has brought political calm and development across regions.
As political temperatures begin to rise ahead of 2027, his confidence in an 80 per cent victory shows the ruling side’s belief that their reforms, especially in governance and inclusivity, will resonate strongly with voters.
