TikToker Vincent Kaluma, alias Kaluma Boy, has announced that he will host a Thanksgiving event for his supporters at Bishop Ben Kiengei’s Jesus Compassion Ministries (JCM) Church on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

In a Facebook post on Monday, September 29, 2025, Kaluma confirmed that the Thanksgiving event will commence at 9 a.m.

He called on all Kenyans who had flocked to his Othaya village to join him in showing appreciation for the overwhelming support.

“Kenyan for Kenyan TikTokers. Gen Zs are occupying JCM Church for Thanksgiving. October 5, 2025. Asante sana, Bishop Ben Kiengei and Rev Joy Benson. 9 am,” the poster read.

The event comes on the heels of a spectacular fundraiser held in the sleepy village of Othaya in Nyeri on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Hundreds of young Kenyans, mostly TikTokers and members of Generation Z, flocked to the village to stand with Kaluma Boy, who has in recent months shared raw and unfiltered videos of his daily struggle caring for his father, left bedridden by a debilitating stroke.

The content creator’s appeal, initially shared online, elicited a flood of support, turning a simple TikTok request into a massive mobilisation of goodwill.

Buses packed with supporters, alongside private cars, streamed into Othaya, overwhelming the field designated for the event.

By midday, the space could no longer contain the crowd, forcing many to stand along the roadsides as the village thrummed with energy and emotion.

The scale of the gathering recalled the solidarity seen during the burial of Brian Chira, where young Kenyans similarly stunned seasoned politicians with their numbers and unity.

The Othaya fundraiser was coordinated entirely through TikTok, where Kaluma has been documenting his father’s condition and the impact it has had on their family.

The event saw ordinary supporters giving what they could, while some of the platform’s biggest names donated more than Ksh10,000, with the highest contribution reaching Ksh300,000.

Bishop Ben Kiengei, although not physically present at the Othaya fundraiser, participated via phone through MC Chris.

Kiengei revealed that he had been supporting Kaluma Boy even before the public fundraiser and pledged to continue until his father regained mobility.

The bishop donated a special medical bed and committed to sending an electric wheelchair, alongside food supplies for the family.

“I have known about Kaluma and his father’s situation, and I said we will hold him up until his father recovers completely. I have sent food and a special bed that will help him, and an electric wheelchair is also on the way to support him,” Kiengei said.

His patron, who attended the event in person, was tasked with providing a monetary contribution and facilitating a job opportunity for Kaluma.
