Kalonzo urges Kenyans to register as voters
By Nancy Marende, September 2, 2025Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has urged Kenyans to turn out in large numbers and register as voters ahead of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) exercise set to begin on September 29, 2025.
In a statement on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Kalonzo said registering to vote is the only way Kenyans can rescue and reclaim the country from what he termed a “rotten and corrupt regime”.
“There is something fundamentally wrong with the state of Kenya under the existing regime. Scandal after scandal and attempts to sell off our crucial infrastructure are the modus operandi of this disgraced government. This is why Kenyans from all corners of our country simply have #WANTAM as their No. 1 agenda,” Kalonzo declared.
He singled out the education sector as being in crisis, citing delays in capitation funds for primary and secondary schools, as well as funding shortfalls for universities.
According to him, families are being subjected to cruel financial strain, with students even being turned away despite receiving SMS confirmations of funds.

“Basic education is a constitutional right that past regimes have honoured. Why is Ruto unable to continue with this? Where is the money? Capitation must be released today, not tomorrow. University funding must also be made available immediately,” he said.
WPF concerns
Kalonzo further accused the government of presiding over massive corruption in the healthcare sector through the Social Health Authority (SHA), pointing to the alleged embezzlement of Ksh10.6 billion to ghost hospitals and the irregular awarding of a Ksh104.8 billion contract to a questionable consortium.
“This is not just fraud—it is genocide,” he said, adding that perpetrators must face trial for crimes against humanity.
He also condemned what he described as “digital impunity” in the management of public funds through the E-Citizen platform, as well as government interference in the East African Portland Cement Company and Karura Forest.
Turning to matters of security, Kalonzo accused the regime of “ceding Kenya’s sovereignty” in Mandera by allowing foreign troops to operate in the county.
“What we are witnessing is occupation, plain and simple. Has Mr Ruto seceded part of our territory?” he posed.
The Wiper leader also warned against rising political intolerance, saying every Kenyan has the right to express themselves anywhere in the country. He demanded that security agencies protect without discrimination.
