Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo has urged Mt Kenya residents to shun divisive politics being propagated by Jubilee’s splinter groups, Tanga Tanga and Kieleweke.
Kabogo said he does not understand why Mt Kenya is the only region where politics dominate daily affairs.
Speaking in Murang’a on Saturday, during the burial ceremony of business woman Lucy Mwangi, Kabogo said it was clearly visible that the pro-Uhuru and pro-Ruto factions were diving the region.
“Having Tanga Tanga and Kieleweke under the same party speaks volumes, and interestingly we are not having these issues elsewhere apart from this region,” Kabogo warned.
Kabogo said the Jubilee Party is led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, hence, he does not understand where the divisions are coming from.
The former Kiambu governor urged the two factions to set aside their differences.
“You cannot separate the two leaders because we voted them in as one, and this remains to be so until the next elections,” said Kabogo.
The former governor warned the current crop of leaders from engaging in succession politics three years away from the next election.
“We need to help the President and his deputy deliver what they promised and this can only be achieved if the leaders work together as a team,” he said.
“If Uhuru fails to deliver, he shall not carry the blame alone, even his deputy will be deemed to have failed,” he remarked.
Kabogo also urged members of public to demand development projects from politicians.
“If a leader comes to you, start shouting and ask for service delivery and this will be a sure way for taming them,” he said.
Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, who accompanied Kabogo, said Jubilee government’s ability to win the next election will depend on its development scorecard.
“We may not be able completely avoid politics but we can do development-oriented politics,” Nyoro said.
Nyoro, however, insisted that the Jubilee party is still intact and President Kenyatta and DP Ruto are still the party leaders.
“There are slight differences but this does not mean the party is has crashed,” he said.
