The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal has suspended the decision by Jubilee Party to expel its members who hold nomination positions in the Senate.

The tribunal’s chairperson, Desma Nungo, said Tuesday he had suspended the ruling Party’s resolution to allow the affected members get a fair hearing.

Senators Isaac Mwaura, Millicent Omanga and two others moved to the tribunal Tuesday, seeking to overturn the Party’s decision.

“Pending hearing and determination of this application inter-partes, this tribunal hereby stays any further implementation of Jubilee Party’s decision dated February 8 to expel the applicants from the Party,” an order by the disputes authority reads.

The cases will be mentioned on February 16 and February 17, Nungo directed.

Jubilee Party on Monday, February 8 expelled Nominated Senators Isaac Mwaura, Seneta Mary Yiane, Waqo Naomi Jilo, Millicent Omanga, Prengei Victor and Iman Dekow.

“The expulsions are with immediate effect and have been communicated to the Senate and the Registrar of Political Parties,” the ruling party stated.

The Party’s Secretary-General, Raphael Tuju, said the decision was arrived at after Jubilee’s National Management Committee met on Monday and deliberated on a report filed by the Disciplinary Committee.
