Govt reveals amounts SHA will pay for deliveries under Linda Mama program

The Ministry of Health has announced the amounts Social Health Authority (SHA) will pay for deliveries under the Linda Mama program.
In a post shared via their official social media page on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the health ministry revealed that the government will pay Ksh10,000 for expectant mothers delivering normally.
It also announced that the government will pay Ksh30,000 for expectant mothers delivering under C-section and essential newborn care.
“The Linda Mama package under SHA is now better and bigger! Normal delivery – KES 10,000 | C-section – KES 30,000,” MOH announced.
The remittances are a drastic increase in comparison to the NHIF benefit tariff which used to disburse Ksh2,500 for normal deliveries and Ksh5,000 for C-sections.
The latest comes amid the ministry’s commitment to restoring SHA’s efficiency in service delivery.
In January, SHA CEO Robert Ingasira, while dismissing claims that the program was discontinued, affirmed that the Linda Mama cover was being enhanced under the new framework.
“Linda mama is still available. It has been enhanced under the new framework,” he said.
He also disclosed that the enhanced program will provide coverage for ANC, postnatal care (PNC), as well as delivery services including Caesarean sections and normal deliveries, normal care, as well as treatments like Anti-D serum.
The CEO also assured Kenyans that the government will ensure that all needy mothers get full benefits.
