Government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has said that that the numerous Asians who have in the recent past landed in Kenya are tourists.

Through a Tuesday, September 28 statement issued by Oguna, the government said that all the Asians who have been arriving in the country not only possess legitimate passports but also followed due process before they were allowed into the country.

The statement by the government was issued after a video of expatriates troping to an estate in Nairobi went viral.

According to Oguna, the foreign nationals have been visiting the country for holiday.

“They are tourists in the country legally and some usually prefer staying and travelling as families,” Oguna said.

In the recent past, the country has witnessed an upsurge in the number of Asians who have been travelling into Nairobi.

This has even raised eyebrows amongst Kenyans who now question their mission in the country.

However, it recently emerged that some of the Asians were casual labourers who were to be taken to another country but we’re left stranded at a local hotel located in Machakos County.

They were stranded due to the high hotel bills being demanded by hotels. Some were also booked in other facilities located in Nyayo Estate, Syokimau, Athi River, Kitengela, Kahawa West, Kenyatta Road and Magadi Road.

Word going round had it that that the Asians have been on quarantine before they can proceed to their home country in Saudi Arabia.

Already, Saudi Arabia has been put on the red list on matters COVID-19.
K24 Digital has established that those heading to Saudi Arabia from Turkey, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Ethiopia have been denied direct entry into Saudi Arabia.

The kingdom has upgraded caution on matters Coronavirus after an increase in the number of people who have been infected.

Kenya is also affected by the spread of the viral disease that has killed thousands.

This has seen the country kick off a campaign asking Kenyans to be vaccinated.
