The group, dressed in white and maroon hats, arrived at the mausoleum with flowers and flags, marking their tribute to Raila, who was not only a political figure but also a passionate supporter of Kenyan football.
The players joined fans in laying wreaths at his grave and observed a moment of silence in his honour.
Arsenal fans pay tribute
Earlier the same day, a group of Arsenal fans had visited the same site, also dressed in the team’s red jerseys. They laid flowers, sang the Arsenal anthem, and shared memories of Raila’s well-known devotion to the English Premier League club.
The two visits reflected how deeply Raila’s love for football united people beyond political lines.

President William Ruto had earlier spoken about Raila’s strong connection to Arsenal during the English Premier League Trophy tour at State House, Nairobi, on Friday, October 24, 2025.
Ruto said their friendship extended beyond politics, as they often exchanged friendly banter about the team’s highs and lows.
“Unfortunately, we lost one of our big Arsenal fans, Raila Odinga, and we really feel that we lost somebody who was always in the game with us,” the President said.

Raila, who passed away on October 15, 2025, in India, was an avid football supporter who often attended local matches and encouraged investment in sports development.
His support for Gor Mahia was longstanding, with many players and fans regarding him as part of the club’s extended family.
Sunday’s visit by both Gor Mahia and Arsenal supporters served as a reminder that Raila Odinga’s legacy extended beyond politics — into the hearts of football lovers who continue to celebrate his passion for the beautiful game.
