Famous Nigerian televangelist Temitope Balogun Joshua, popularly known as TB Joshua, who died on Sunday, June 6, 2021 was controversial both in Nigeria and abroad.

As the head of the Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN) established in 1987, TB Joshua claimed to have divine powers to heal all sorts of incurable diseases like HIV/AIDS and cancer.

As a perfect seduction for his worshippers, he “prophecied” major occurrences around the globe.

In 2014, his church released a video claiming that he predicted the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines MH370.

The passenger plane disappeared on March 8, 2014 while flying from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to its planned destination, Beijing Capital International Airport with 239 people aboard.

During the presidential election in the United States in November 2016, Joshua incorrectly predicted that Hillary Clinton would win the poll.

After the prophecy failed to materialise, with Donald Trump winning the election, Joshua said he was referring to Clinton’s win in the popular vote and any misinterpretation was due to a lack of “spiritual understanding”.

Joshua claimed that the COVID-19 would disappear globally on March 27, 2020. That did not come to pass as coronavirus is still spreading across the world.

The preacher’s alleged prophecy in April 2016 that an impending terror attack would befall Ghana made national headlines in the West African nation and led the national police to issue a statement calling for the general public to be calm and vigilant.

Several terrorist attacks have allegedly been predicted by him, including the 2015 Garissa University College attack, the Ouagadougou hotel siege in Burkina Faso, the November 2015 Paris attacks and the 2016 Brussels Bombings.
