Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris’ convoy was on Monday, March, 28 reportedly attacked during her campaign tour in Nairobi’s Westlands Constituency.
The legislator took to Twitter to seek help asking the police and Interior CS Fred Matiang’i to intervene noting that they had been attacked near Deepsea slums in Westlands.
“Our convoy is under attack. We are in Westlands near Deepsea. Help. We know the thugs. They have broken our windscreen,” she tweeted.
“The thugs have taken our truck keys and are demanding money to give back our keys,” she added.
Her cry for help was immediately attended to according to an update she wrote on Twitter.
“Grateful to Nairobi County Police Commander James Mugera and OCS Parklands James Murigu for responding with speed to our call for help and for taking action against the perpetrators. Violence and intimidation on the campaign trail should not be tolerated,” she added.
Passaris and her convoy had earlier toured Parklands Ward and Mountain View Ward in Westlands Constituency.
She is hoping to retain her seat as the county’s Woman Representative in the August 9 polls.
