Kalonzo’s event
On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, Kalonzo hosted an event to celebrate 40 years in politics. The event, titled ‘Reflections on My 20 Years in Diplomacy and 40 Years in Political Discourse‘, brought together political leaders, diplomats, and civil society representatives to reflect on Kenya’s diplomatic journey and its evolving international relationships.
In a statement via his official social media channels, Kalonzo reflected on his four decades in politics and two decades in diplomacy, expressing deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Kenya and Africa.
He highlighted his extensive public service career, which includes roles as a lawyer, mediator, Member of Parliament, minister, and vice president. Kalonzo emphasised that his entire working life has been dedicated to public service, underscoring the honour he feels in having contributed to the nation’s development.

“As I reflect on the 20 years of diplomacy and 40 years of political discourse, I realise now more than ever what an absolute honour it has been to serve the people of Kenya and Africa. Indeed, my entire working career has been spent in service to the public, be it as a lawyer, mediator, MP, minister and vice president,” Kalonzo stated.
“We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today,” Martin Luther King Jr reminded us six decades ago. Dr King’s seminal words mean even more as we confront “the fierce urgency of now” that is unfolding here in Kenya. “In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there is” such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.”
