Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced 1,335 new cases of Covid-19 from 7,605 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
This represents a positivity rate of 17.5 per cent, more than three times the maximum safety percentage recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
From the new cases, 1,293 are Kenyans while 42 are foreigners. In terms of gender 680 are females while 655 are males.
The new cases bring the total number of positive cases in the country to 206,691 while the cumulative tests conducted are 2,156,881.
On a positive note, CS Kagwe has announced 1093 new cases of recoveries out of which 983 are from home-based isolation and care programs while 110 were discharged from various hospitals.
This brings the total number of recoveries to 191,188 out of which 152,434 are from home-based care and Isolation program while 38, 754 were treated in various hospitals in the country.
According to Kagwe, a total of 1,587 patients are admitted to various health facilities countrywide while 4,124 are under home-based isolation and care.
178 patients are in ICU, 45 of whom are on ventilatory support and 118 are on supplemental oxygen. 17 patients are being observed.
441 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 397 of them in general wards and 44 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
Sadly, CS Kagwe has announced 30 new deaths out of which one succumbed in the last 24 hours while 29 cases were recorded after conducting health facility record audits on diverse dates in July and August 2021.
The cumulative deaths occurring as a result of Covid-19 is at 4,025.
In terms of vaccination, CS Kagwe has announced that a total of 1,071,297 first doses have been administered while second doses are 670,284.
The new cases are distributed in the counties as follow; Nairobi recorded 647 cases, Nakuru 86, Kiambu 83, Kajiado 59, Mombasa 53, Nyandarua 52, Makueni 45, Machakos 40, Kirinyaga 36, Kilifi 27, Uasin Gishu 26, Murang’a 25, Lamu 16, Kitui 14, Baringo 12, Taita Taveta 12, Tana River 11, Embu 11, Marsabit 9, Kericho 8, Laikipia 8, Turkana 6, Meru 5, Nyeri 4, Kisumu 4, Siaya 4, Kwale 4, Wajir 3, Elgeyo Marakwet 3, Migori 3, Isiolo 3, Homa Bay 2, Tharaka Nithi 2, Kakamega 2, Kisii 1, Mandera 1, Nandi 1, Nyamira 1, Trans Nzoia 1, Vihiga 1, West Pokot 1, Bungoma 1, Busia 1 and Garissa had 1 case.
