Clinical officer in Sharon Otieno murder case who went missing found alive

The Kisii-based clinical officer who went missing after testifying in a case where Migori Governor Okoth Obado is accused of murdering Rongo University student Sharon Otieno has been found alive.

The officer identified as Cliff Momanyi is alleged to have gone missing moments after testifying before Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi on Wednesday where he admitted before judge Cecilia Githua who was handling the matter that he had given out wrong medical reports.

On Thursday morning, his wife Mary Kimaiga reported the matter before Kisii police station that he was nowhere to be found with his phone switched off.

That was when police immediately moved into action to investigate and eventually managed to trace his phone in Bomet County before it was switched off.

Kimaiga told K24 Digital that they expected him back home on Wednesday night but he failed to show up and only learnt that her husband was a witness in the case when she watched the news.

The Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) Kisii branch yesterday though their Secretary General Victor Bwanchete held a press briefing confirming that their colleague was missing.

Bwanchete told journalists that efforts to trace their colleague were not fruitful and called on police and DCI to come in for their aid.

He also pleaded with them to handle the case with the seriousness it deserves since it was sensitive and called for speedy investigations.

Today morning, the family of Momanyi breathed a sigh of relief after learning that he was safe and sound.

Confirming the matter, her wife told us that Momanyi had called her in the morning to alert her that he was safe and alive at Gesonso area within Kisii where DCI officials were sent to pick him up for questioning.

“I am so happy to learn that he is alive,” she said.
