Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has roughed up Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga in the heated Matungu by-election that kicked off Thursday morning.

The incident occurred at Bulimbo Primary School at about 8.30 am, a tallying centre.

Malala’s personal assistant, Collins Babu, told K24 Digital that their team was tipped off of alleged voter bribery at Bulimbo and sped off to the tallying centre where he confronted the Homa Bay Woman Representative.

Babu claimed that they allegedly found Wanga dishing out cash to voters, leading to the physical altercation that saw Malala kick and slap the Orange Democratic (ODM) Movement Woman Representative.

Malala is supporting the Amani National Congress candidate Peter Oscar Nabulindo while Wanga is behind ODM candidate, former MP David Were.

The heated election has already witnessed another violent incident after former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa slapped an election official at Bulonga Primary School.
