Caleb Amisi: Raila told me ‘continue hitting the govt’
By Nancy Marende, October 28, 2025Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has revealed that his last conversation with the late ODM leader Raila Odinga was a direct instruction to continue criticising the government.
The Map said the opposition leader was firm in his belief that the current administration had deviated from the ideals they stood for.

Speaking during an interview with Obinna TV Extra on Monday, October 28, 2025, Amisi said Raila gave him the directive during a private meeting at his Kileleshwa office, just two months before his death.
“I can dare say, the last moment I had with Baba was in Kileleshwa in his private office, and Baba told me to my face, ‘continue hitting the government; this is not what we believe in,’” Amisi said.
The legislator added that Raila’s words have remained his guiding principle, vowing to continue holding the government accountable in honour of the former prime minister’s wishes.
“He told me personally; that’s why I hit Ruto like nonsense. That was my last standing directive from Raila to hit the government. I will continue doing what Baba left me to do,” he stated.

Other revelations
Amisi also took a swipe at leaders who have aligned themselves with President William Ruto under the broad-based government, dismissing the move as opportunistic and lacking legitimacy.
“What is a broad-based government? People went to the government to look for jobs. These people around Baba will tell you there was no arrangement. Show me a coalition agreement between the UDA and the government, and there is nothing. These are ‘foodious’ people,” Amisi claimed.

He accused some of Raila’s allies of taking advantage of his absence abroad to strike deals with State House, saying the ODM leader had been clear that any form of cooperation with government needed to be structured and inclusive.
“Raila told us himself that when he came back from Dubai, he called Junet, and Junet told him those people were already in State House waiting to be announced. They had approached Baba about an arrangement, but he told them to wait until we have a proper coalition agreement, including Kalonzo and Uhuru, before moving to a people’s convention. But while Baba was away, they went ahead because of selfish interests,” Amisi explained.
