Babu Owino calls for preservation of traditions after attending Luo Festival

In a statement on Saturday night, August 9, 2025, Babu urged the community to embrace and safeguard their cultural heritage, noting that traditions form the backbone of unity and identity.
“Currently attending the annual Luo Festival at Uhuru Gardens. Let’s embrace and preserve the pride of our traditions, uniting as one community in love and strength,” read the statement.

The annual event organised by Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, attracted an impressive 16,000 attendees.
Taking to his Instagram Stories as the event went down to share the milestone, the MP celebrated the overwhelming support from fans.
“16,000 strong… This is Luo Nation,” Jalang’o captioned a video of Prince Indah performing to the massive crowd that sang along to his songs.

The annual cultural event, known for showcasing Luo music, fashion, cuisine, and lifestyle, has steadily grown into one of Kenya’s most popular social gatherings.

The festival featured top Luo musicians, DJs, and cultural displays.
The attendees enjoyed performances from Iyanni, Javan Macajudo, Khaligraph Jones, Okello Max, Coster Ojwang, John Junior, Musa Jakadala, Osito Kale, Odongo Swag, Prince Inda, Tony Nyadundo, and Emma Jalamo (final performance), with DJ Joe Mfalme entertaining them for the rest of the event.
