COTU boss Francis Atwoli has been re-elected for the fourth time as a member of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Governing Body that is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Atwoli was re-elected on Monday, June 14 during the 109 virtual session of the International Labour Conference, ILC.
As a member of of ILO governing body, Atwoli will continue representing African workers in the highest decision making body globally.
A leading trade unionist, Atwoli will be office between 2021-2024 representing the interest of African workers at the global body.
While thanking Kenyans for the congratulatory messages sent after his re-election, the trade unionist promised to be unwavering in his service to workers.
“I’m humbled by all your congratulatory messages on my 4th re-election as a Member of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Governing Body. To all Kenyan workers, THANK YOU for your support that has given me recognition worldwide,” Atwoli said.
ILO is an agency of the United Nations devoted in the promotion of social justice and internationally recognized human and labour rights.
As such, the organisation decides the Agenda of the International Labour Conference, adopts the draft programme and Budget of the Organisation for submission to the Conference and elects the Director-General of the ILO.
