Many Kenyans have expressed interest in voting in the 2027 General Elections compared to the 2022 contest, where voter turnout was 65.4 per cent, the latest TIFA survey shows.

This second release is based on a TIFA national survey conducted between 23 August and 3 September and released on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

2,023 randomly selected Kenyan adults (aged 18 and above) across all 47 counties were interviewed at their residences.

According to TIFA findings, the 94 per cent turnout is based on the voters’ confidence that the election will be free and fair, compared to 70 per cent who are not confident or not sure if they will participate in the upcoming general polls.

“There is a striking difference in the expressed intention to vote in the next general elections between those who are “very confident” that they will be “free and fair” as opposed to those who are either “not confident at all” about this or are “not sure” about it (94% vs. 70% for both of the latter groups),” the survey notes.

According to the findings, 4 per cent are very confident they do not intend to vote, while 2 per cent are very confident they are not sure whether they will vote.

The report further shows that 84 per cent of Kenyans are somewhat confident they intend to vote, 8 per cent are somewhat confident they do not intend to vote, and 9 per cent of Kenyans are somewhat confident they are not sure whether they will vote.

Notably, the TIFA survey report shows that 70 per cent of Kenyans are not confident that they will vote, followed by 19 per cent of Kenyans who are not confident at all that they do not intend to vote.

11 per cent of Kenyans are not confident at all that they will vote in the 2027 elections.

“The big first test the new set of IEBC Commissioners and Chair will have at the end of November may give a clearer indication as to how Kenyans feel about this issue,” the findings observe.

TIFA says 70 per cent of Kenyans are not sure whether they will in 2027, while 14 per cent of Kenyans are not sure whether they intend to vote, and 16 per cent are not sure whetherthey will vote.
