A tragic road accident involving a trailer and a Toyota Land Cruiser has claimed four lives in Narok County.
The collision, which occurred on Monday, August 5, 2024, at around 3:30 pm happened in the Katala Katakala area.
According to an official statement from the Narok police station, the collision resulted in the tragic deaths of all four occupants of the Land Cruiser operated by Dalloky Magnifiques Tours Safaris, who were three foreigners and one African, identified as the driver.
The driver of the trailer sustained minor injuries to both legs.
“At about 1530Hrs at Katakala area, a motor vehicle make Shacman trailer, and motor vehicle Toyota Land Cruiser of Dalloky Magnifiques Tours Safaris company driven by an unknown driver collided. The trailer was heading towards Narok from Mulot, while the Land Cruiser was coming from the opposite direction. Upon reaching the location of the accident, the driver of the Land Cruiser overtook improperly and as a result, collided head-on with the trailer,” the police report read in part.
Both vehicles landed on the left side of the road, facing Narok. The Land Cruiser was extensively damaged in the crash.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Narok County Hospital Mortuary, pending post-mortem examinations.
Both vehicles have been impounded at the Narok police station yard for inspection.
Further details, including the names, ages, and nationalities of the deceased, will be released as the investigation continues.
“The driver of the trailer got slight injuries on both legs. Both vehicles landed on the left side of the road as one faces Narok direction. The Toyota Land Cruiser was extensively damaged. The bodies of the deceased taken to Narok County Hospital Mortuary pending post-mortem. Both motor vehicles taken to Narok Police station yard pending inspection,” the report added.
