192 individuals arrested over Saba Saba violence in Nakuru arraigned – DCI
By Cy Muganda, July 8, 2025The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed that 192 individuals arrested in connection with the Saba Saba demonstrations in Nakuru County have been arraigned in various courts across the region.
In a press statement posted on X on July 8, 2025, the DCI stated that these individuals face charges related to violence and property destruction that occurred during the protests held on July 7, 2025.
“Today in Nakuru County, a total of 192 suspects arrested for various offences committed during the Saba Saba demonstrations yesterday were arraigned at various courts,” the statement read in part.
Arraignments in Naivasha
In Naivasha, the Chief Magistrate’s Court handled the largest number of cases, including 17 individuals arrested in Gilgil for obstructing police officers on duty.
“17 individuals arrested in Gilgil for obstructing police officers on duty were presented before the Chief Magistrate’s Court, Naivasha, and were released on Ksh50,000 cash bail each,” the statement added.

Additionally, 67 other individuals arrested in Naivasha faced various charges. Thirteen of these were specifically charged with breaking into a building and committing a felony, and they were each granted bail of Ksh200,000.
“Another 67 individuals arrested in Naivasha were arraigned and charged with various counts, of whom 13 were accused of breaking into a building and committing a felony,” the DCI said.
Arraignments in Nakuru East
At the Nakuru East Chief Magistrate’s Court, 84 other individuals were charged, while six others, including two teenagers arrested in Nakuru West, were also arraigned at this venue.
“10 individuals arrested in Subukia were arraigned in a Nyahururu court,” the statement continued.
Arraignments in Molo
The Molo Chief Magistrate’s Court saw eight individuals being arraigned, identified by the DCI as: Lucy Minayo (20), Joseph Mburu Thuo (22), Brigid Cherop (23), Boniface Wesonga (20), Cecilia Wangui (24), Solomon Mwaura (20), Daniel Michemo (25), and Javan Kiragu (22).
According to the DCI, the Molo court granted a police application to hold these eight individuals for an additional 10 days to complete investigations.
“A miscellaneous application by the police to hold them for 10 days to complete investigations was granted by the court,” the statement noted.
