Police in Thika are investigating an incident where a garbage truck driver was on Thursday night shot and killed.

According to eyewitnesses and the police, the driver identified as Maina was driving the lorry contracted by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA). He had driven the lorry to Utalii tunnel and parked it as he waited for the litter to be filled.

Moments later, a salon car believed to be that of his killer swerved right behind his truck.

Police say driver was shot six times

The gunman jumped out and headed to the driver of the litter truck and shot him six times before he headed for his car and drove off.

Shockingly, the other men in the company of the deceased were left unharmed.

Police believe that the killer was looking forward to eliminating Maina. However, they pledged to conduct investigations so as to establish the motive of the attack.

The body was moved to the mortuary awaiting post-mortum results.
