Opposition MPs allied to President William Ruto‘s administration were treated to a frenzy during his working tour in Nyanza.
The lawmakers seized the opportunity to ridicule those opposed to their relationship with the President saying that they were up to the common good of the community and not malice by working with Ruto.
Speaking in Ugenya, the lawmakers who include David Ochieng (Ugenya), Mark Nyamita(Uriri), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Felix Oduor( Langata), Paul About(Rongo), Omondi Caroli(Suba South), Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda and Siaya deputy governor William Oduol vowed to continue working with the ruling government.
On his part, Ochieng said those doubting their relationship with the president should now see(in reference to Ruto’s Nyanza tour) why they have been making forays to see him in the State House.
“Today, we are here to demonstrate to you why we are wining and dining with the government of the day,” Ochieng said.
Nyamita said they had no regret working with the Ruto regime.
“We will firmly rally behind you to the ballot. What you have done for us as a community is remarkable,” he said.
Speaking during the event, Siaya County Governor James Orengo said they were not opposed to the Ruto regime but called for equity in the administration of national cake.
He said they were keen on shepherding the unity of Kenyans and the promotion of peace beyond tribal lines.
“Your excellency there is nothing which bars you from working with all communities, whether they voted for you or not,” he said.
The governor said the national and the county government of Kisumu, must work in tandem.
“We can’t work in isolation. Our relationship is close-knit,” the county boss noted adding they will continue to support development projects within their turfs.
The governor was speaking when he visited Ugenya to commission the construction of Ksh114 million level 4 Hospital in the Ugenya constituency.
Orengo however boldly seized the opportunity to claim that the law is clear on equity and so it is ridiculous for some leaders to walk to State House to look for development.
“It’s not a must that people must beg for development because it’s pegged on the constitution,” Orengo stated.
This, he said on the backdrop of the MPs allied to the President saying that even if the law was equal to all, loyalty to the prince was also key to explore.
The opposition leaders have been against the MPs from the ODM party working with the Ruto regime without the party’s consent.
In September, the party issued them with disciplinary actions and charged them for defying the party to serve the interest of another party which sponsored them to Parliament.
They were later expelled from the party for defying the party’s position and gross misconduct.
However, the lawmakers were saved by the political parties’ tribunal courtesy of the good nuptial with the State allies.
