Plain cloth police officers on Friday gunned down four suspected members of the ‘Nyuki’ squad in Nakuru.

Confirming the incident, Nakuru county police boss Peter Mwanzo noted that the four who were a subsidiary of the ‘confirm’ gang in Barut were shot following an operation launched in the wee hours of the morning.

“The incident occurred at 1 am today (Friday). The suspects attacked our officers at Kwa Maiko Village, located a few kilometres from the scene where a criminal gang killed two residents on Wednesday, July 13,

“Our officers were in civilian clothes when the suspects, who were armed with arrows and machetes, attacked them. The police personnel were forced to open fire, killing four on the spot,” said Mwanzo.

Five other suspects managed to escape the scene with gunshot wounds in the operation meant to flush out the gangs’ terrorizing residents.

“Some of the suspects escaped into the neighbouring maize plantation,

“Those who escaped have gunshot wounds. I appeal to hospitals in Nakuru and neighbouring counties to report to us should any patient with an unexplained gunshot injury seek treatment at their facilities,” Mwanzo added.
