Police are investigating an incident where a man collapsed and died at a lodging in Nyatike, Migori, in unclear circumstances.

In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said Naftali Nyandera’s lifeless body was found sprawled in bed at Lavanda lodgings in the wee hours of Friday morning, after a night of fun with a 24-year-old woman.

“Police officers based at Macalder police station were called at the scene and established that the 52-year-old man had walked into the room accompanied by the babe half his age, and collapsed hours later following an eventful evening,” DCI said.

The woman, whose identity has not been revealed, has been detained by authorities for interrogation.

The deceased body was moved to Migori level IV mortuary, awaiting postmortem to establish the exact cause of death.

Cop dies at a Homa Bay lodging

In January, a police officer died in similar circumstances at an entertainment joint in Ndhiwa town, Homabay County, while in the company of a woman.

The 55-year-old officer is said to have collapsed and died while making love with the woman who authorities confirmed to be 25 years old.

“The man died while inside a room with the lady. According to the woman who is in custody, the man collapsed and died during sexual intercourse,” Ndhiwa Sub-County Police Commander Paul Rioba said.

The man is said to have first arrived at the lodging and booked the room before he was joined by the said woman.

In her statement to the police, the woman said she was forced to inform the management after the man collapsed while in the act.

“She is in custody as she assists the police with investigations,” police said.

“We do not want to speculate anything at this time until the postmortem is carried out so as we get to know what really transpired.”
