Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has issued a statement announcing the full resumption of services after a system downtime that affected the Social Health Authority (SHA) system for two days.
This comes shortly after some patients stormed Afya House, disrupting Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Deborah Barasa’s press conference, to protest the inadequacies of the SHA health scheme at the facility.
In their statement, KNH acknowledged that their systems were experiencing a downtime which had led to the delay of patient clearance and administrative process.
The national hospital further apologised for the inconvenience and assured Kenyans that the SHA system has been fully restored and patients are being attended to.
“The recent system downtime experienced over the last two days temporarily disrupted some services causing delays in patient clearance and administrative processes. We deeply regret the inconvenience this may have caused to our patients and their families,” KNH said.
The hospital added that additional personnel have been deployed across all affected departments with extended working hours to resolve the backlog caused by the downtime.
It also reiterated its unwavering commitment to resolving all pending cases and providing high-quality healthcare services across the country.
“KNH remains steadfast in its mission to provide specialized, high-quality healthcare services to all our patients.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused during this period and thank our patients and the public for their understanding and patience. As Kenya’s leading referral hospital, we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism,” the hospital added.
