Kenya Power announces areas to be affected by Saturday blackout

Kenya Power issued a notice informing Kenyans of power interruptions in select parts of the country on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

The utility firm in a notice on its website said that the power interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrade power lines to the network.

“Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.),” Kenya Power said.

The utility firm noted that the Saturday, January 20, 2024, power interruption will only affect one county – Kajiado.

Kenya Power said parts of Kajiado County will be in blackout on Saturday for eight long hours, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas that will be affected by the planned power interruptions include; Matasia, Barabara Mpya, Kahara, St. Patrick, Ilmasin, Olooseos, Kona Baridi, Kwa Leakey Kisamis, Kabuagi, Pulei, Tinga, Ensonorua and adjacent customers.
