Kenya Power announces areas set to face temporary power interruption on Monday, August 31, 2026
By Dan Kauna, August 30, 2026Kenya Power has issued an update notifying customers of routine maintenance scheduled for Monday, August 31, 2026.
The utility firm confirmed the routine network service work through its official social media channels.
Residents and business operators in the targeted zones across five regions are advised to plan accordingly, as supply will be temporarily turned off during the work hours.
Nairobi, Western, and North Rift blackouts
In the Nairobi Region, the interruption will affect the Jakaya Kikwete Road area. Power will be off from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Specific locations listed include Jakaya Kikwete Road, parts of Valley Road, Integrity Center, Heron Court Hotel, Slovakia Embassy, Comfort Hotel, Better Living Hospital, Middle East Bank, Tourism Fund Plaza, and adjacent customers.

In the North Rift Region, parts of West Pokot County will experience interruptions between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm. The affected spots in the Murpus and Plelekhan areas include Murpus, Plelekhan, Seretow, and adjacent customers.
For the Western Region, selected areas in Vihiga County are lined up for maintenance from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The targeted locations cover Lososi, Mudete, Lusengeli, Kaimosi Sawmill, Evojo, and neighbouring establishments.
Mt. Kenya and Coast regions
In the Mount Kenya Region, parts of Nyeri County will face blackouts from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Areas marked in Kiamuiru and Githiru include Ngibuini, Mugwathi Motel, Kiamuiru Catholic and Primary School, Satima Millers, Kiamuiru Safaricom Booster, Kiamuiru SDA, Gwa Kigera, Kwa Roda, Kiamuiru Sawmills, Vegpro Factory, Githiru Coffee Factory, schools, market, alongside parts of Thunguma.
Finally, in the Coast Region, parts of Taita Taveta County will face disruptions in the Sagala area. Customers in the whole of Sagala, Kanyanga, Motherland, Dambi, and adjacent areas will have their supply cut between 9.00 am and 3.00 p.m.
Kenya Power conducts regular grid maintenance to improve system stability, repair damaged equipment, and facilitate new connections across the national grid.
