The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued a new method of applying for new generation number plates, weeks after migrating its services to e-Citizen.

NTSA announced the closure of the Transport Integrated Management Systems (TIMS) portal in December 2023, moving all related services to e-Citizen.

As a result of the migration, the application for new-generation number plates has been shifted to the new platform.

The new reflective number plates come in oblong and square shapes.

“We have reduced the application process to 3 simple steps. Apply and collect the plates after seven working days,” NTSA said.

Motor vehicle owners have been advised to confirm the shape of the plates on the motor vehicle before submitting their application.

Below are the three steps for applying for the new number plates;

Step 1

  • Log into the e-Citizen account
  • Select NTSA service portal (New)
  • Select the motor vehicle and click on view

Step 2

  • Click motor vehicle services then reflective plate
  • Select plate type and counter collection office
  • Attach the required documents in one PDF format

Step 3

  • Scroll down and tick the declaration box then click preview
  • Submit to pay for reflective plate and click complete
  • Collection notification will be sent via SMS
