Former traffic boss Charlton Murithi succumbs to cancer
By K24 Editorial, August 19, 2022The Director of National Focal Point on Illicit Small Arms and Light Weapons Charlton Murithi has died.
Murithi, who was a former Traffic Commandant, passed away on Friday, August 19 while receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
Murithi, who also worked as the Director of Internal Affairs Unit and the Director of Personnel at the police headquarters at Vigilance House, was receiving cancer treatment at the facility when he passed on at around 3:00 am.
“Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police (SAIG) Charlton Murithi who was sick and admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital passed on today on 19th August 2022 at about 03:00 hrs. He was undergoing cancer treatment,” the police report seen by K24 Digital read in part.
Charlton Murithi eulogised
He served as the Traffic Commandant in 2014 and the Provisional Police Officer in the North Eastern region.
Three months ago, he had been flown to South Africa for therapy before being brought back and admitted to KNH.
The police have visited the hospital and moved the body to the local mortuary.
His colleagues have eulogized him as a dedicated officer.
“He meant well and always ensured the best for officers,” an officer close to him told a local publication.
