Police officers in Embu county are investigating an incident where a businessman was shot by unknown assailants on the night of Monday, September 19, 2022.

While confirming the incident, Embu West Subcounty police commander Julius Kyumbule said the man was shot at least four times.

He said the victim sustained serious injuries to his mouth and the back of the head.

The police boss said the assailants had a double cabin, blue in colour and after the shooting, they vanished to an unknown destination.

The victim was driving a grey Prado KBU 690E and was in the company of one man who did not sustain any injury.

“The information we have from members of public indicate that the assailants had their car a double cabin as the victim approached a bump at Ndumari area within Embu town. Upon reaching there, they started shooting before vanishing to an unknown area,” Kyumbule said.

He noted that immediately the victim was rushed to Embu level 5 hospital for treatment by the man who had accompanied him.

The victim, who was identified as Geoffrey Mwangi, was later transferred to Nairobi for specialist treatment.

“We will dig deeper to know who was behind the shooting,” Kyumbule stated.
