Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced a scheduled power outage that will impact eight counties on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
The blackout, affecting regions in Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Siaya, Homa Bay, Nyeri, Meru, and Embu, is part of a routine network maintenance operation.
“Good Evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (13th September, 2023)The interruption is part of network maintenance,” KPLC stated.
The power company provided specific details regarding the timing and locations of the scheduled outages.

In Uasin Gishu, parts of Chepkongi Primary and adjacent customers will experience power interruptions from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
In Trans Nzoia, areas including Moi’s Bridge, Matunda, Chukura, Kona Mbaya, Nzoia, Binyenya, Mbururu, and adjacent areas will have power blackouts from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
In Elgeyo Marakwet, Kessup Sawmill, Kiptengo, Kamore, Kamkono, Kapcherop, Kapkoi, and other areas will experience interruptions from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Affected areas in Siaya include Siaya County Hospital, Tehila, Banana East, and Banana Catholic Church, among others, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
In Homa Bay, residents in areas such as Marindi, Murram, Kuja Safaricom Booster, Ndira Kakoth, Aluor Mixed, and other regions will face power interruptions from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
In Nyeri, the power outage will affect the whole of Kamacharia, Thuita Market, Iruri Market, Kamune Market, Kariki, and other areas will be affected from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Power interruptions in Meru will impact KWS, Kinna, Kiengu, Garbatula, Kula Mawe, Kiutine, Karichu, and various other areas from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
In Embu County, residents in Kiritiri, Rugogwe, Ngungu, Ngiori, Nyangwa, Kirima, Kaweru, and other areas should expect power outages from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
