3 KDF soldiers killed, 17 others injured in grisly accident on Nakuru-Eldoret highway

Three Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers were killed and 17 others injured after a vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a road accident at Jogoo area on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway on Thursday, October 6, 2022.

The KDF truck was heading to Nairobi from Eldoret but upon arriving at twin bridge area, the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to overturn.

Confirming the accident, Kuresoi North Sub County Police Commander Juddah Gathenge said 20 soldiers were on board at the time of the accident.

“Unfortunately we had three fatalities while the injured officers were rushed to Molo Sub County Hospital. Eight were seriously injured while nine were slightly injured,” said Mr Gathenge

The injured officers, who included the driver of the vehicle, were rushed to Molo Sub-county Hospital for treatment.

Bodies of the deceased were moved to the same hospital’s mortuary awaiting autopsy.
