Two men were on Thursday, January 12, 2023, arrested with a consignment of bhang of an unknown value.
Edwin Mwita Maseke and Robert Wansato Wiese were arrested with eight sacks of bhang when police on patrol got wind of the illegal activity from members of the public.
According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, the two aged 29 and 21, were intercepted along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway while they were heading to Limuru from Migori.
“Police on patrol acting on information along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway at Gilgil Weighbridge intercepted a motor vehicle Reg No KBX 005N which was being driven by one Edwin Mwita Maseke and Co-driver Robert Wansato Wiese aged 21 years from Migori to Limuru,’ the police report reads in parts.
“A quick search was carried out and eight sacks of Narcotic drug(bhang) of unknown value were recovered therein. The suspects were arrested together with the vehicle and escorted to Gilgil police station for further investigations,” the report added.
Recent incident
The latest incident comes barely a month after police in Isibania, Migori county on Thursday, December 1, 2022, arrested one suspect in connection to a haul of bhang in Migori.
In a statement by the National Police Service (NPS), the suspect, who was found with sacks of bhang fastened on his motorbike was arrested along Motemorabu-mabera.
The arrest of the suspect followed a tip-off from members of the public. At the time of his arrest, police recovered two sacks of bhang valued at Ksh420,000.
“Acting on a tip-off from a member of the public, police officers at Isibania Police Station recovered two sacks of bhang and arrested one suspect in connection to the haul,” NPS said in a statement.
“The suspect was arrested along Motemorabu-Mabera road with sacks of narcotics drugs with an estimated street value of Ksh. 420,000 that were fastened on a motorbike he was riding,”
