Waithira leads the race as FKF Premier League top scorers’ battle heats up

The race for the Golden Boot in the 2025/26 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season is gathering pace, with several forwards producing standout performances in front of goal.

At the summit of the scoring charts is Joseph Waithira of Murang’a SEAL, who has opened a commanding lead with 15 goals. Waithira’s impressive tally has set the benchmark for the rest of the pack, but he is being closely chased by Paul Okoth of Ulinzi Stars, who sits second with nine goals.

Okoth remains one of the key contenders to challenge for the crown as the season progresses. Gor Mahia’s Felix Oluoch and Philip Wasai of APS Bomet are level in third place with seven goals each, having both enjoyed productive campaigns so far.

A tight cluster of players follows closely behind on six goals apiece. Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw (Gor Mahia), Bryan Michira (Shabana FC), Eric Kapaito (Tusker FC), and Humphrey Aroko (Kariobangi Sharks), are all locked in a four-way tie, highlighting just how competitive the scoring charts are this season. Each of these forwards has shown flashes of brilliance, and a strong run of form could easily propel any of them into the top three.

Rounding off the top scorers’ list are Oliver Machaka (Kakamega Homeboyz), Hansel Ochieng (APS Bomet), and Geoffrey Ojunga (Bandari), all tied on five goals. Their steady contributions underline the depth of attacking talent on display across the league.

However, Waithira failed to widen the gap at the top after failing to score against Tusker on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, as the Brewers edged SEAL 1-0 at the Wang’uru Stadium in Kirinyaga County.

With plenty of matches still to play, the battle for the Golden Boot remains wide open. As teams push for league success and survival, the pressure will be on these forwards to maintain their scoring form. If the current trend is anything to go by, fans can expect an exciting and closely contested race right up to the final whistle of the season.
