Talanta Stadium’s musical water fountain set to redefine fan experience
The ultra-modern musical water fountain at the upcoming Raila Odinga International Stadium (Talanta Stadium) is one of the most exciting attractions expected to captivate fans and visitors alike, months before the eagerly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations 2027.
Speaking about the unique feature inside the 60,000-seater facility on Thursday, May 21, 2026, Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi Mwangi described the fountain as a striking blend of innovation, entertainment and architectural brilliance designed to complement the grandeur of the Talanta Sports City project.
“One of the most captivating features for fans and visitors at the 60,000-seater Raila Odinga International Stadium is an ultra-modern musical water fountain,” said Mwangi.

According to the Sports PS, the fountain has been carefully designed in the shape of a shield, reflecting the eight giant shields that surround the exterior of the stadium. He noted that the installation represents “yet another bold architectural statement befitting a world-class sporting arena”.
Mwangi explained that the fountain goes beyond ordinary decoration, describing it as “an immersive visual masterpiece” created to enhance the overall spectator experience at the stadium.
The attraction will feature synchronised jets of coloured water moving rhythmically to music, flashing lights and choreographed sound effects, creating what he termed “a mesmerising fusion of sound, water showers and motion”.
“Imagine standing before a symphony of dancing water, vibrant lights and pulsating music, a hypnotic performance where every jet moves in flawless rhythm to the soundtrack of a timeless local hit,” Mwangi stated.
Eye-catching experience
He added that spectators will witness water displays that sway, twist and burst elegantly into the air while perfectly synchronised with dazzling lighting effects and musical beats, leaving audiences with a memorable experience long after the performance ends.
“As water sways, twists, and bursts gracefully into the air in perfect harmony with dazzling strobes and musical beats, watchers are treated to a breathtaking spectacle that lingers on long after the show is over,” he said.
The Sports PS believes the installation will become one of the defining symbols of the stadium and a major attraction for both local and international visitors.
“The installation promises to become a must-see attraction and a defining symbol of the stadium’s modern identity,” Mwangi noted.
Beyond sports, the government envisions the stadium as a multi-purpose venue capable of hosting global concerts, cultural festivals and major entertainment events, positioning Talanta Sports City as more than just a football arena.

“This positions Talanta not only as a sporting hub, but also as a landmark tourist attraction for both Kenyans and international visitors,” Mwangi explained.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Sports has revealed the ongoing progress of the construction of the mega stadium ahead of the 2027 AFCON games.
In a statement on Friday, May 15, 2026, during a high-level ministerial inspection visit to assess the progress on-site, Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya said that the facility is now in its final stretch with a 91 per cent completion rate and on course to be delivered to CAF for the upcoming games.
“I have conducted an inspection visit to assess the progress of construction works at the Raila Odinga International Stadium at the Talanta Sports City, currently at 91% complete, with the government firmly on course to deliver the facility by the end of July,” Mvurya said.
