South Africa’s top-flight side Amazulu confirm Moses Shumah’s signing
By Luke Oluoch, July 12, 2026Premier Soccer League side AmaZulu FC have confirmed the acquisition of Harambee Stars striker Moses Shumah ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The former Kakamega Homeboyz forward is the latest Kenyan to join the Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit. Shumah arrives in South Africa after being crowned the Golden Boot winner in the concluded season of the Zambian top-flight league. He netted 21 goals in 25 matches to fire Power Dynamos to their ninth domestic league title.
In a statement released on Sunday, July 12, 2026, AmaZulu confirmed that the clinical marksman will inherit the club’s prestigious number 10 shirt.
The goal-scoring run had attracted heavy interest from continental suitors, including Moroccan giants RS Berkane, but it was Usuthu who ultimately won the race for the prolific Kenyan poacher.
Kenya in PSL
By moving to Durban, Shumah becomes the latest Kenyan international to ply his trade down south, following in the footsteps of legendary trailblazer Musa Otieno, the first Kenyan to play in the PSL, as well as Paul Were, Brian Mandela, Masud Juma, Ali Abondo, Joseph Okumu, and Kevin “Ade” Omondi.
Rebuild
Shumah headlines a major squad overhaul by AmaZulu. He joins the club alongside wingers Gape Moralo and Kgomotjo Lekoloane, who both arrived on free transfers after parting ways with Marumo Gallants and Stellenbosch FC, respectively.

Other new entrants to bolster the squad include defender Mncedi Vandala, Omega Mdaka, and right-back Keenan Phillips.
Ivorian goalkeeper Faveur Kouassi has also signed from Malian side Djoliba AC.
To pave the way for these new signings, Usuthu has parted ways with several experienced players, including Namibian striker Elmo Kambindu, midfielders Bongani Zungu and Mason Mushore, Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori, defender Sphephelo Majola, and forward Thabiso Kutumela.
Under the guidance of head coach Arthur Zwane, AmaZulu FC enjoyed an excellent 2025/26 campaign, finishing in fourth position.
They concluded the season just behind the heavyweights: Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Kaizer Chiefs. The Kenyan is among those tasked with the responsibility of pushing the club to an even higher position on the table next season.
