Simba SC coach quashes Harambee Stars ace Bajaber exit reports
By Luke Oluoch, February 18, 2026Budding Kenyan international attacker Mohammed Bajaber has received timely motivation, with coach Steve Barker affirming that he remains part and parcel of his Simba SC team.
The former Kenya Police FC wonderkid has endured a tough start to life after signing for the Msimbazi outfit in August 2025, with injuries doing little to aid his quick settling in.
In an interview on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Barker affirmed that the Kenyan hotshot remains part of his plans—a definitive assurance that could shape the future of the Kenyan import.
“He is fine now. He is training again; he has been in full training. He was out for about 2 to 3 weeks, but he is back in full training. Mohamed is a good player, and good players will always be in our plans,” the South African tactician stated.
Reports of Bajaber’s return
Reports have been rife in Tanzania and Kenya about a possible return to the Kenyan Premier League before the January transfer window closed. The Harambee Stars ace switched to Tanzania just before the 2024 CHAN games. However, he remained on the sidelines with a nagging injury impacting his chances on the pitch.

The Kenyan made a dream debut for the club after shaking off his injury, finding the back of the net as they beat Mbeya City 3–0 in the Tanzanian Premier League clash in December.
Recurring injuries have prevented him from any meaningful run of games, with stints in and out of the matchday squad. He later made a brief appearance at the start of the year in the Mapinduzi Cup, where he also scored a goal, showcasing his talent when fit and in the team.
The Kenyan international, who made his debut in style under coach Benni McCarthy, will be keen to put his injury woes behind him and impress the coach as he pushes for selection in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations squad.
