Savouring the victory! Rachier and Eliud Owalo showcase dance moves in celebration of Gor
By Luke Oluoch, March 16, 2026Gor Mahia’s top hierarchy, led by club patron and presidential candidate Eliud Owalo and chairman Ambrose Rachier, celebrated the club’s famous victory over Ulinzi Stars on Sunday, March 15, 2025, in style by showcasing rare dance moves.
Owalo, who succeeded the late Raila Odinga as patron, was accompanied by the long-serving Gor chair and vice chair, Sally Bolo, and took their positions at the VIP section at the Soldiers Complex as Gor Mahia thrashed hosts 3-1 to inch closer to reclaiming the league title.
Tapping into the carnival mood at the stadium, the trio soaked up the electrifying atmosphere as a dominant Gor Mahia side put the game beyond the rivals’ reach with a third goal in the 77th minute.
Sleek moves
The strike, by Sharrif Musa, extended the upbeat mood across the arena, with the Green Army’s fans fittingly enveloping the memorable occasion with sounds of drums and renditions of traditional songs, revealing the captivating aspect of the Gor Mahia matchday experience under a rejuvenated choir coordinating team under Julis Ong’owo, alias Taya Dok.
The officials joined the irresistible atmosphere with Rachier and Owalo showcasing brief dance moves in a rare spectacle of off-the-pitch entertainment, taking cues from the hype from Bolo, who psyched the pair up.

On the pitch, Gor Mahia took the most significant step yet towards their march to a record 22nd Kenyan Premier League title.
Charles Akonnor’s side opened a ten-point cushion over their championship-challenging duo, AFC Leopards and Shabana FC, with the Ghanaian describing the match as a potential league turning point.
AFC Leopards fumble
“It is good to move ten clear; it was one of the defining moments as far as the championship goes. We knew because AFC slipped on Saturday, we had a chance to capitalise, and we needed to take it by being smart on the pitch and taking our chances.”

Akonor, however, admitted that the game demanded the best of his charges as they approached the tie, knowing the enormity of the task against the struggling outfit.
Enormous task
“Today, we needed to dig deeper. We knew we wouldn’t get that many chances. We are happy to win the three points,” he added.
Gor’s push for the league silverware and a domestic double in 2025 culminated disappointingly. Days after losing the league race to Kenya Police, their implosion hit its lowest ebb in a crushing 2-1 defeat to Nairobi United.
Following their 2026 FKF Cup exit a couple of weeks ago, Gor Mahia’s saving grace for the season now lies solely on the league front, where the stars seem to be aligning for the record champions to reclaim their title.
