Rosenior provides Estevao and Enzo Fernandez injury update after Man Utd’s loss

By , April 19, 2026

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has shared fresh information regarding the condition of Estevao Willian and Enzo Fernandez after the pair had to leave the pitch during the team’s disappointing 1-0 loss to Manchester United on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

Estevao was named in the starting lineup for the Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge and nearly gave his side the lead with an effort that narrowly missed the target, striking the outside of the post. However, the young Brazilian, aged 18, was unable to continue and was substituted in the 16th minute.

Fernandez, on the other hand, featured for 88 minutes after returning to action following a two-match spell on the sidelines. Sadly, the Argentine midfielder could not see out the match and was taken off toward the closing stages, with Romeo Lavia coming on as his replacement.

Estevao limps off

Speaking about Estevao’s situation during his post-match media briefing, Rosenior said: ”He was crying at half time; it was really devastating for him.”

”It looks like it’s his hamstring, and that has happened in a moment when he’s running through on their goal for a one-v-one chance, he pulls his hamstring in that moment. I hope Este comes back sooner rather than later,” he added.

Enzo Fernandez also had to be withdrawn near the end of the closely contested defeat against Manchester United.

Turning his attention to Fernandez, the head coach further explained: ”I just saw him in the dressing room, I think it was his calf. I’m hoping it’s cramp; he’s getting work on it right now because we want him, obviously, fit for Tuesday [against Brighton and Hove Albion]. He ran himself into the ground for the club tonight, and I expect nothing different from a man of his stature and quality.”

The latest injury concerns at Stamford Bridge are a major concern to Rosenior, who is trying to salvage Chelsea’s season by guiding them to Champions League football next season by finishing among the top five in the Premier League standings at the end of the current campaign.

The Blues are placed sixth on the log with 48 points with five rounds left to play.
