Osborne Monday pinpoints major issues behind Shabana’s slump

By , May 9, 2026

Osborne Monday has expressed optimism that Shabana FC will outgrow their recent struggles to win games and get better with time.

Speaking after the team’s barren draw against struggling Ulinzi Stars on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Gusii Stadium, the former international opined that much of the team’s troubles were down to offensive frailties.

Monday, who left his role at Murang’a Seal to take over the reins from Peter Okidi in Apirl 17, 2026, acknowledged that there has been notable progress, with their finishing the remaining facet of the work they need to get done.

“We are positive that things will change. We have been dominating games, but our problem is just a matter of converting the chances. We needed to be composed at goal, but we seemed to be hurrying when all that was needed was to be composed, calm, and take our moments,” he stated.

Cause for Optimism

The gaffer has also lauded the proper attitude exhibited by players during training, adding it can only portend good tidings in the future.

“The important thing is the attitude. I have seen it getting better and the concept is getting better, so we head to the next game with hopes,” he stated

His sentiments follow after Shabana FC battled the Soldiers club to a stalemate in a Football Kenya Premier League clash staged at the Gusii Stadium on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

The Glamour Boys were in search of a return to winning ways against the relegation-threatened side, but despite their dominance, they had nothing to show for it in the barren encounter.

The Gusii-based team was forced to contend with dropped points for a second successive match, following a similar stalemate against Police FC.

The club’s downward trend coincided with the dismissal of coach Peter Okidi, with the appointment of Marc Ongwae doing little in turning things around.

A 3-0 defeat to Nairobi United on Sunday, April 5, 2026, marked a new low for the club, which sustained a fourth loss in their five games.

On the FKF Cup front, Tore Bobe suffered exit from the cup final at the quarterfinal stage after being ousted by Police FC.
