New Premier League date confirmed for Chelsea’s trip to Liverpool

By , April 1, 2026

Chelsea’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool, scheduled for May, has been moved to a different date.

The Blues are now set to take on Arne Slot’s team at Anfield on Saturday, May 9, 2026, with kick-off slated for 12:30 pm British Time.

However, if Liverpool overcomes Paris Saint-Germain to reach the Champions League semi-finals, the game will instead begin at 8:00 pm on the same day. The outcome of that European tie, which concludes on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, will determine the final kick-off time for the league encounter at Anfield.

Man City vs Liverpool

Meanwhile, before the Chelsea tie, Liverpool will be out seeking an FA Cup semi-final berth when they visit Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

In their previous meeting, City scored twice in the closing stages at Anfield to earn a 2-1 Premier League victory over Liverpool. Bernardo Silva and an Erling Haaland penalty snatched victory from the jaws of defeat after Dominik Szoboszlai’s unstoppable 74th-minute free kick.

Rayan Cherki thought he had City’s third deep in stoppage time when rolling the ball in from the halfway line. Instead, his effort was chased by Szoboszlai and Haaland, resulting in a red card for the Hungarian.

After spending on attacking talent Hugo Ekitike over the summer, Liverpool’s fortunes have paid off, with most of their goalscoring threat coming from the newcomer.

The Frenchman began the season by scoring in the Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace and again on Matchday one of the Premier League season.

Following his goal against West Ham in Liverpool’s 5-2  win over the Hammers, he is now up to a total of 17 goals and six assists across all competitions this season.

The 23-year-old is being allowed to showcase his versatility on many occasions, something City will have to keep a close eye on. Dominik Szoboszlai has become Liverpool’s main man this season, scoring his 12th goal of the season against Galatasaray, with eight assists to his name.

His energy, quality and consistency in whatever position he is asked to play alongside his Champions League form in particular have been impressive.
