Ndovu si Kuu! AFC Leopards slam brakes on Tusker’s winning run

By , March 22, 2026

AFC Leopards have put an end to Tusker FC’s recent match-winning streak as they keep up the chase of log leaders Gor Mahia with a well-fought, solitary goal win at Nyayo National Stadium.

Hassan Beja bagged the all-important goal to keep alive Ingwe’s flailing pursuit of leaders Gor, whose cushion at the summit has now been cut to seven points.

The halftime change for Kelly Madada exploited a goal melee to prod home the winner as Ingwe stayed on the winning streak following their midweek victory over Nairobi United.

Fred Ambani’s charges were kept waiting until the 80th minute to break the resolute Brewers, running high on a three-game unbeaten run, considering the arrival of the new tactician, Julien Mette

Wasted chances

Things could have been more different and possibly called early on had the home team carried their scoring boots for the tie.

Ugandan Samuel Ssenyonjo was at fault for a clear missed opportunity.

The club’s top scorer in the season first failed to get the lead from a well-weighted cross from James Kinyanjui midway through the first half.

Ambani resumed the final half on twin changes with club lead assist man Ronald Sichenje and Bonface Munyendo entering the fray.

Tusker survive

Ssenyonjo thought he had gotten his goal after glancing a header past Pavelh Ndzila, but the Congolese shot stopper recovered it in time with a last-ditch save to smother the effort.

Proceedings remained tight, with the Julien Mette team holding their ground against Ingwe forays.

Both sets of keepers remained alert, with James Ssetuba doing well to deny Erick Kapaito from an early opener at the hour mark.

The lead ultimately came as Beja made the most of a rare opportunity to storm Ingwe in front. With the win, Leopards remain in contention for the title, sitting seven points below Gor Mahia, who edged Shaban on Saturday.
