Murang’a Seal appoint ex-Harambee Stars player Dennis Odhiambo as interim coach
By Joel Masibo, April 14, 2026Murang’a SEAL FC have confirmed the appointment of former Harambee Stars player Dennis Odhiambo as the club’s head coach on an interim basis after a significant change in their technical bench, following a mutual agreement to part ways with head coach Osborne Monday and his assistant Philip Wanjoya.

In an official statement released on April 13, 2026, the club confirmed the departure of the two tacticians, shortly after the team was knocked out of the FKF Cup by minors Mfalme with a 5-1 trashing, bringing an end to their tenure at the Murang’a-based side.
The club expressed gratitude for their contribution, acknowledging their professionalism and commitment during their time in charge.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to both coaches for their professionalism, dedication, and contribution during their time with the club, and we wish them every success in their future endeavors,” read part of the statement.
Dennis Odhiambo steps in
Following the exit, Murang’a SEAL FC moved swiftly to stabilise the team by appointing Dennis Odhiambo as head coach on an interim basis until the end of the season. Odhiambo, who has previously been part of the club setup and the national team Harambee Stars, is expected to bring experience and continuity to the squad.

He will be assisted by Marcus Abwao, who steps into the role of assistant coach as the club reshapes its technical bench.
The club expressed confidence in the newly appointed coaching duo, emphasising their belief in Odhiambo’s ability to steer the team in the right direction during the crucial final phase of the campaign.
”Dennis Omino Odhiambo has been appointed head coach of Murang’a Seal FC until the end of the season, bringing with him a wealth of experience and leadership. A former Kenya international, he earned 30+ caps for the Harambee Stars and featured at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
“He also previously served at Murang’a Seal..first as a player, then moving into the technical bench setup, before now stepping up as the head coach until the end of the season. A true journey of growth, trust, and leadership. Now it’s time to steer the ship,” the club said in a statement on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Murang’a SEAL further reiterated their commitment to achieving their season objectives, noting that the leadership of the new technical bench will be key as they push forward.
The changes come at a critical juncture in the season, with the club aiming to maintain competitiveness and build momentum under new guidance. Dennis Ohiambo will lead the club in their next FKF Premier League assignments against Nairobi United on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at SportPesa Arena, starting at 3:00 pm local time.
