Match preview as wounded KCB host Bandari in FKF Premier League

By , May 10, 2026

KCB FC will be looking to bounce back to winning form when they face Bandari FC in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League fixture set for Sunday afternoon, May 10, 2026, at the Kasarani Annex.

Match outlook

The “Bankers” head into the match eager to recover from a narrow 1-0 loss to APS Bomet in midweek action, a setback that slightly slowed their progress in the league standings as the season nears its conclusion.

With only four matches remaining, KCB are focused on stabilising their performances and gathering momentum ahead of a key FKF Cup semi-final showdown against Tusker FC next week.

KCB target rebound

Under the guidance of coach Robert Matano, KCB currently sit seventh on the league table with 41 points, having recorded 11 wins, eight draws, and 11 losses. They will be aiming to secure their 12th victory of the campaign as they push for a strong finish.

Bandari FC, on the other hand, arrive in Nairobi also seeking a positive result after a 1-1 draw with Posta Rangers in their last outing. That result marked their 16th draw of the season, the highest in the league so far.

The Mombasa-based side are placed ninth with 40 points, just one behind KCB. Their season record includes eight wins, 16 draws, and six defeats. They have scored 23 goals while conceding 21, reflecting a relatively tight defensive setup.

Goalkeeper Allain Ngeleka has been a standout performer, keeping 12 clean sheets so far—making him one of the most reliable shot-stoppers in the competition.

Players and coaches speak

KCB forward David Sakwa has expressed confidence that a win against Bandari would serve as the perfect morale boost ahead of their cup semi-final assignment.

He emphasised the importance of recovering from their recent defeat, noting that the team is determined to regain confidence and build positive energy.

The Bankers have endured a demanding schedule in recent weeks, including a narrow 1-0 FKF Cup quarter-final win over Nairobi United before suffering the same scoreline defeat to APS Bomet shortly after.

“We want to bounce back because in our last match on Wednesday we lost so our focus is getting a win so that we have a great morale heading into the FKF Cup semis,” said Sakwa.

Coach Matano acknowledged that fatigue has affected his squad due to the congested fixture list but assured fans that preparations are being managed carefully.

He also delivered positive news, confirming that the entire squad is fit and available for selection, giving the team a full-strength boost ahead of the weekend fixture.

“We saw it in APS Bomet’s match after playing a hard match against Nairobi United and travelled the following day, but we are trying to manage the fatigue,” Matano said.

With only a single point separating the two sides in the standings, Sunday’s encounter is expected to be closely contested, with both teams motivated to finish the season strongly. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:15 pm.
