The newly crowned Football Kenya Federation Premier League Most Valuable Player, Enock Morrison, has acknowledged AFC Leopards for giving the club a run for their money during the just-concluded league season.

AFC Leopards emerged as the league runners-up, finishing just behind eventual champions Gor Mahia in what went down as a fierce league tussle that was decided late with two games to conclude the campaign.

Speaking after his crowning on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the season awards gala, Morrison conveyed his gratitude to AFC and all other league rivals for making the race a thrilling one.

“I give credit to all clubs in the league. Any team that Gor Mahia plays is a difficult encounter, and most especially AFC Leopards,” he stated.

The midfielder was conspicuously the subject of a heated rivalry after he appeared to aim jibes and taunts against AFC Leopards a while ago, after the Mashemeji win over their arch-rivals in the April 26, 2026, encounter.

The fresh wounds of the Mashemeji Derby defeat on April 26, 2026, saw a detour of his sentiments then, when he deliberately seemed intent on riling the rival club fanbase with his celebrations and antics.

In a rare sportsmanship gesture after the calm of the league storm, he acknowledged the fierce title race that only came to an end when the Fred Ambani-led side lost in their penultimate league clash to confirm Gor Mahia as the champions.

“I want to thank their fans, players, and coach for pushing us to our limits. I went to bed every time thinking if we dropped points, then they would overtake us, so they kept us on our toes all through. Thanks to all the clubs, Nairobi United, Shabana, Ulinzi, and Mara Sugar, who made the competition possible,” he stated.

The Ghanaian was among the big winners of the gala awards, also bagging the best midfielder for the 2025/26 season.
