Fun moments as Ruto drives Migori Youth FC around State House in new bus
By Luke Oluoch, July 13, 2026Migori Youth FC’s visit to State House took a fun and memorable turn on Monday, July 13, 2026, when President William Ruto revisited his penchant for driving by taking to the wheel to test-drive the club’s brand-new team bus across the serene presidential premises.
The memorable moment capped an elite reception for the newly crowned National Super League (NSL) champions, during which the president promised the players a Ksh10 million cash prize for their outstanding achievements.
Handing over the keys, Ruto reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing in sports and stadium infrastructure as the keys to unlocking Kenya’s true sporting potential and global reputation. He took the occasion to dismiss the detractors of the projects
“To those people asking if our sports infrastructure projects are a priority, I dare them to go and ask the young people of Kenya. You will get the right answer from the sportsmen and women in our republic,” President Ruto stated.
The Head of State also delivered massive news for football fans in the county, announcing that the newly built stadium in Migori will serve as the team’s official home ground for the upcoming season.
Rare state house tour
“The stadium in Migori will be the home base for this great team. We will use this facility to begin inspiring sportsmen, athletes, and talent in other disciplines to take their rightful place, ensuring Kenya remains the true sports nation that we are,” he added.
Ruto fulfilled a previous pledge to gift the team a transport bus. To the delight of the cheering players and officials, the president climbed into the driver’s seat to test out the vehicle’s prowess around the State House.

The president acknowledged that delivering the bus to the team as reigning champions made the moment even prouder.
“When your patron requested a few months ago that I get you a bus, I did not know you were going to win the National Super League. But you have made me incredibly proud. Today, I am not just handing over a bus to a football club; I am handing it over to the Super League champions,” Ruto remarked.
Looking ahead to the club’s debut in the FKF Premier League, he embraced Migori Youth’s ambitious target of clinching the top-flight crown in their very first year among the elite big boys.
