FKF PL top scorer Joe Waithira joins South Sudan outfit, Jamus SC

Football Kenya Federation Premier League top scorer Joe Waithira has successfully secured a move to the South Sudanese league after signing for Jamus SC.

News of the Murang’a Seal’s mercurial attacker was made public by the club on Friday, June 12, 2026, days after the striker reportedly travelled to the new African nation to seal the deal.

“We are delighted to officially announce the signing of Kenyan international striker Joseph Waithira “King Joe”. The Kenyan Premier League top scorer joins us on a two-year deal from Murang’a Seal,” the confirmation.

Despite being a mainstay in the Kenyan local football top-tier scene, the Harambee Stars prospect enjoyed his breakout season in the 2025/26 campaign, with a rich form of goal-scoring seeing him as the lead net-buster for the season with 19 goals.

The feta earned him the league’s Golden Boot crown as he etched his name among the prolific strikers to ever grace and win the acclaimed title.

Kenya’s best goal-poachers

En route to the historic season, the former Bandari and Wazito striker was once ranked among the best-scoring Harambee Stars marksmen, trailing only Zambia-based Moses Shumah in the list.

He now joins a burgeoning list of locally based stars who secured moves to the paid ranks after a successful season where they topped the local league scoring charts.

The club was founded in 2004 as both a social and cultural entity, with formal restructuring occurring later around 2009 during the build-up to South Sudan’s independence. Their breakthrough as a formidable team in South Sudan, however, did not happen until the 2010s, when they secured major corporate backing and structural investment. placing them among the elite clubs in the East African region

The club has in the past qualified for CAF continental competitions, making their debut appearances on the big stage over the last two seasons. Their debut came in 2024 when they captured their first major top-flight silverware by capturing the 2024 South Sudan National Cup,

The club recently missed out on retaining their domestic league title to El-Merreikh Bentiu for the recent 2026 season.
